#TheStruggleWasReal: CJ FLY

fullsizerender-3

I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase, the struggle was real. Maybe you’ve caught yourself either thinking, saying, or even currently living it (don’t worry, it gets better). In this new segment, we talk to artists about moments when they were faced with the struggle — not to dwell on it, but to shine a light on the fact that everyone has dealt with a situation that tested them in many ways. This is how they overcame it, and it goes to show that you can overcome anything, too. CJ Fly, founding member of Pro Era, takes us through a time in which his family experienced financial difficulties, “I remember not being able to even drink water, or eat dinner a couple of nights.” But it’s not a struggle anymore, as the extremely talented Brooklyn-native has been putting in work in the studio and building a solid fan base. Did I mention that his upcoming album, Flytrap, is slated to be released before the end of the year?
