Morning person or not, the reality is that the way we start our day dictates how the rest of it pans out. With that being said, we decided to investigate the morning routines of the most successful people out there. It was only right we kick off this series with Oprah, I mean she’s only one of the most successful people in the world.
Meditate Meditate Meditate *K Dot voice*
According to an article on Inc., Oprah starts her mornings with meditation in order to foster “hope, a sense of contentment and deep joy.” If you aren’t already doing some form of meditation or prayer, I highly advise you start. When you take a moment to think about something outside of yourself it can help alleviate stress and jumpstart your day in the right direction. For me, it helps to pinpoint what I’m grateful for.
Next on Oprah’s List? 15 Minutes of Cardio
I usually don’t hit the gym in the mornings (unless it’s my day off or if it’s the weekend), so I might have to work on this one. You can opt to hit the treadmill, like our girl, or get a few ab workouts in. The point is to get your heart-rate pumping to hep raise your energy level.
Oprah achieves this by either going for a walk, listening to music or preparing a meal. Choose something that best fits your morning schedule, so that might just even mean listening to your favorite playlist or radio station on your way to work.
Oprah concludes her morning routine with a breakfast full of “complex carbohydrates, fiber and protein.” While this one seems obvious, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve forgotten to eat breakfast because I was in a rush. Treat yourself to a healthy breakfast. Your body needs it babe!
By no means do you have to follow Oprah’s morning ritual to a tea. In fact, it’s probably best to look at it as more of a guide and add your own twist that way your one step closer to becoming your most productive self.
Do you have a morning routine? If so, what is it?
